Why the rate is editable

The exact relationship depends on the reference frames and time scales being defined. Rather than label one simplified offset an official lunar clock, this explorer lets you test the scale of cumulative timing differences.

Why navigation cares

Radio ranging and positioning convert timing into distance. A microsecond of light travel corresponds to roughly 300 metres, so coordinated precision timing becomes essential when many spacecraft and surface systems share a navigation network.

Standards are still an engineering programme

NASA and international partners are developing lunar positioning, navigation and timing frameworks. Lunar Probe therefore does not display a fictional “official Moon time.”
