Why there is no single lunar temperature
Surface temperature depends on illumination, latitude, slope, material properties and local time. Sunlit equatorial ground can become hotter than 100°C, while lunar night falls far below freezing and permanently shadowed polar surfaces can be among the coldest places measured in the Solar System.
What this tool deliberately does not do
It does not output a fake value such as “-128.37°C at these coordinates.” Accurate thermal prediction requires local topography, solar geometry and a thermophysical model. The explorer instead classifies the environmental regime and explains the engineering consequences.
