Compare two telescope or camera setups to see whether the full Moon fits, how much framing margin remains and roughly how many pixels span the lunar disk.

How to use the comparison

A setup that fills more of the frame gives more pixels across the Moon, but it also leaves less room for tracking drift, orientation changes and imperfect centring. A wider field is often easier for full-disk imaging; a narrower field can be useful for close lunar mosaics or individual features.

What the preview means

Angular field is calculated from sensor dimension and focal length. The pixel estimate then scales the selected lunar angular diameter against that field. It tells you about framing and sampling, not how much real detail the atmosphere and telescope can resolve.

Why the Moon changes apparent size

The Earth-Moon distance varies through the Moon's elliptical orbit, so its angular diameter is not constant. Use the angular-size explorer to test different distances.
